2009 Kindergartners--Earn FREE School Supplies!

Memorial Library is once again offering a chance for kids entering kindergarten in 2009 to earn FREE school supplies through our Pre-Literacy Kit Promotion. The library created 27 kits which are housed in clear plastic backpacks and feature a variety of topics of interest to preschoolers. In cooperation with the Family Resource Center, ten are housed at their Washington School site. Kits from both locations may be used to reach the goal, which is 20 kits completed along with their evaluations by Monday, August 3. Stop by the library for more details or to enroll your child...or give us a call at 626-0180.

Christmas Break Crafting

Youngsters, predominately guys, showed up in our Cooper Clark Room on Monday, December 29, to do some crafting. The supply closet in the children's area was basically cleaned out to provide lots of interesting items from which kids created their crafts. This open-ended event gave young people lots of room to exercise their creativity and we saw some truly unique items. A good time was had by all!

Gingerbread decorating

Kids of all ages had a great time at our annual Gingerbread decorating event on December 22. Something new was added this year as little ones were invited to decorate a gingerbread man. What creativity we saw as little ones slathered on lots of frosting and covered their men with a variety of sugary treats. Older kids enjoyed applying their talents to gingerbread houses. Many placed evergreen trees made of sugar cones in the 'yards' of their houses and made coconut walkways as well.
If you missed out, watch for the announcement of next year's event!
